Firebox Repairs

Over time, the heat from the fire can cause cracks in the firebox that allows heat to transfer through them to the combustible material (wood framing) behind the firebrick. This in turn causes the wood framing to dry out to a point called “pyrolysis.” Once this takes place, the wood behind the firebrick could ignite, causing a quick burning inferno. At Soot N’ Sewer, we conduct a visual inspection of the firebox during every sweep that we perform. We can patch many of these cracks using a high temperature mortar, ensuring that you have peace of mind when you go to have your next fire.
